The hardware network course YBET: ADSL splitter

In connection Internet by ADSL, you must install an adsl splitter on all the telephone catches. This splitter will dissociate the normal telephone signal of the numerical signal. If it is not installed correctly, a phone call is disturbed by a strong interfering signal (coming from the ADSL) and communication ADSL is disturbed (internet disconnection). A1. 1 telephone catch, 1 ADSL splitter

First case, only one catch in the building, filter ADSL positions between the mural catch and the other telephone catches.

A2. Several mural telephone catches, 1 ADSL splitter by catch

Second case, two (or more) taken on the same telephone line only on mural catch: a ADSL splitter at the beginning on each catch.

A3. Telephone installation with extensions

Third and fourth case, two or more taken telephone mural, but by using extensions. The diagram is slightly modified according to the position of the modem or router ADSL

A4. ADSL with ISDN connection

Fifth case, use of a connection ISDN . The telephone line arrives of the supplier via a specific case which makes it possible to take again 2 telephone lines via only one telephone pair. This requires a special filter ADSL (not a simple specialized catch) and a compatible modem ADSL (generally top-of-the-range of type connection RJ45). For recall, each telephone line of case ISDN includes 2 exits: 1 analogical line and 1 digital line ISDN (for telephone and modem ISDN). 

A5. A general ADSL splitter

It is also possible to ask Belgacom (Belgium) or France Telecom to place a special adsl splitter at the entry of the telephone connection which filters for the whole of the telephone catches. It is in particular obligatory if you use a telephone exchange or an alarm of protection of the building with recall in the event of alarm with an external telephone number.
